Education

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.In the previous posts, I have wrote one component of health-related fitness, and today I'm going to talk about one component of skill-related fitness that is Reaction Time.

What is Reaction Time? Reaction time is the amount of time it takes to respond to a stimulus. Or it also can be refer as amount of time that takes places between when we perceive something to when we respond to it. It is the ability to detect, process and respond to a stimulus. Reaction time is depending on various factors which are perception, processing and response.

Reaction time is including another fitness components which is coordination, agility, speed and power. Coordination happen it involve the movement of whole body for example when doing cone drill hand touch it involving hand, eye, sound and leg. It teach you how well your body can synchronize each other. Next, it also using agility where happen when you able to change direction quickly towards a stimulus. Other than that, reaction time is a simple form of speed and depend mainly on nervous system. When performing chase and run activity, we can see how fast people need to react to stimulus can be consider they have a good reaction time.

In addition, reaction time exercise energy system using ATP-PC Energy System because lasting up to 10 seconds. This exercise put into play without using oxygen. The ATP-PC System uses Adenosine Triphosphate for energy. It provides quick burst of immediate energy. Example of plays include accelerating and running up and down the court, changing direction, rebounding, jump shot and playing defense. This energy system requires about 30-90 seconds of rest for a moderate recovery due to absence of oxygen during the delivery of energy.

Last but not least, safety aspects. Same goes with the muscular endurance but I add one more aspects. If the activity have been held outdoor, must drink plenty of water to prevent from neither heat exhaustion, heat cramp nor heat stroke.
